Obituary for Vernon Magee
Vernon R. Magee, 82 of Easton, MD, formerly of Woodbine, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2017 surrounded by family.
Born on September 7, 1934 in Woodbine, MD he was the son of the late John J. and the late Virgie E. Pickett Magee of Woodbine, MD.
He was a former member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley, WV and a current member of Hillsboro Queen Anne Methodist Church in Hillsboro, MD.
Vernon graduated from Sykesville High School. After graduating he became an LPN at Springfield State Hospital and worked in numerous nursing homes. One of Vernon’s favorite hobbies was traveling cross country with his family. Other hobbies include fishing, crabbing, and watching his favorite Baltimore Orioles.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers John and James Stanley Magee. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lois Schrider Magee and sons and daughters-in-laws, Darrell and Mary-Ann Magee of Pompano Beach, FL, Brian and Kim Magee of Hampstead, MD and Scott and Kelly Magee of Mt. Airy, MD, his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Chuck Roland of St. Michael’s, MD. Also 7 grandchildren, April Magee Dove and Matt From Virginia, Kevin Magee from Colorado, Amanda Magee Dotson and Nick from Colorado, Christopher Magee from Hampstead, Owen, Aaron, and Noah Magee from Mt. Airy, and a great granddaughter Alaina Dotson of Colorado.
The family will receive family and friends for a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 1 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School).
Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Magee’s name to Talbot Hospice 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601 and/or The University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton 219 S. Washington Street, Easton, Maryland 21601 .
