Albert Francis Nickoles, age 86, of Randallstown, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, MD, from complications due to a stroke and pneumonia.
He was born January 12, 1927 in Randallstown, MD the son of the late Joseph and Bessie Shipley Nickoles.
He was the husband of Evelyn E. Nickoles (nee Wachter), his wife for over 64 years.
He served in the Army during World War II from July 1945 through January 1947. He retired from the Great A & P Tea Company in 1981 where he worked for over 30 years and was a meat department manager. He enjoyed watching all sports on TV, was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, and in the 60’s and 70’s he was a semi-pro duckpin bowler. Each summer he enjoyed gardening and working outside his home. He also enjoyed Friday night card games and thoroughly enjoyed singing Karaoke with his family and friends. The highlight of his life was enjoying visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His best buddy was his dog, Pepe’. Albert was a member of the Westminster Moose and Owings Mills American Legion Post 122.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and son- in law, Brenda K. Higgs of Eldersburg, Earleen and Edward Upton III of Randallstown, and son Robert Nickoles of Reisterstown; grandchildren Edward Upton IV and wife Erin of Sykesville and Kelly Upton of Randallstown and great-grandchildren Raleigh and Jake Upton of Sykesville. Albert is also survived by sisters, brothers and sisters-in law Dorothy Koontz, Mary Gorsuch, Joseph and Ola Mae Nickoles, Charles and Marlene Nickoles, Roland and Diane Nickoles, Margaret Green and Dorothy Reisburg and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son-in-law Robert M. Higgs, brother, William Nickoles, sisters and brothers-in-law Mildred and William Welsh, Mae and Charles Brady, Teresa and Frank Grimes, Sr., Hilda and Charles Greenwalt, Shirley Koontz and Gilbert Gorsuch.
Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Sat. 7-9 & Sun. 2-4 & 7-9 PM; where funeral service will be held Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
Interment Lake View Memorial Park.
