Alice Renee VanGilder of Mount Airy, MD passed away at her home on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the age of 55.

She was the beloved wife of Kenneth VanGilder and they recently celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary.

Alice was born on February 17, 1967, in Baltimore County, MD to Gary and Kay Bullock. She was a 1985 graduate of Bermudian Springs High School in York Springs, PA.

Alice worked for the Social Security Administration as an Information Technology Specialist, and later as a Lead Management Analyst. She retired after 28 years of service.

Alice supported her community as a volunteer firefighter at the Boring Volunteer Fire Company in Baltimore County during the 1980s and 90s.

Alice enjoyed reading, puzzles, watching murder mysteries, skiing and long ATV rides in the WV mountains, but her biggest passions were fishing and spending time with her family. In recent years she also adopted several senior Yorkshire terriers and adored each.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents is her son, Ryan VanGilder, his girlfriend, Torey, and their dog Mollie, who she especially adored. Also surviving is her brother Rob Bullock, step-brothers Roland and Norman Wilson, sister and brother-in-law Marie and David Marron, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved yorkie, Cassie. Alice was predeceased by her step-mother, Eva Bullock.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Providence United Methodist Church, located at 3716 Kemptown Church Rd, Monrovia, MD 21770. A reception hosted by the family will follow the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alice’s name may be made to Providence United Methodist Church, and the James M Stockman Cancer Institute located at 1562 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
