Arthur P. “Otts” Wheeler,Sr. age 85, of Randallstown, died peacefully Thursday, September 25, 2014, at his companion’s home.
A lifelong resident of Maryland, he was born June 21, 1929 in Baltimore, the son of the late John Wheeler and the late Marie Holter Wheeler.
As a young man Otts served the country proudly as a member of the Maryland National Guard. He worked as a lithographer for more than 50 years, for the Gamse and American Bank Lithography companies, finally retiring after 20 years of service with the National Security Agency at Fort Meade. Otts had a positive influence on hundreds of young men through his volunteer efforts with the Boy Scouts of America, especially Troop 800. Through Scouting he made rich life-long friendships. To the end of his life he was a great friend to many using his extraordinary talents to fix any broken machine they could bring him.
He was the husband of the late Patricia C. Wheeler (nee Kelly), father of Arthur Wheeler of Nashville and Kerry Wheeler of New Windsor, brother of Richard and Gary Wheeler of VA; also survived by 4 grandchildren; Aaron and Eric Wheeler and Chad and Devin Wheeler; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend Ella Nora Hoerl and her loving extended family who welcomed him into their lives.
Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville (Beside South Carroll High School) on Monday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM; where Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM, Interment Lake View Memorial Park.
