Aubrey DeWitt Maring, age 89, of Woodbine, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Fairhaven Healthcare, Center, Sykesville, Maryland from colon cancer. He was born on January 4, 1929 in Frederick, Maryland, the son of the late Ralph D. Maring and the late Bessie Pickett Maring. He was the husband of the late Ruth Ellen Hidey Maring and Grace Gorsuch Maring.
He graduated from Mt. Airy High School in 1946. He worked at Exxon Corporation for 28 years, starting out delivering fuel oil and gasoline, and then later as an Asphalt Plant/Terminal Manager in their Canton, Maryland location. He was a farmer in Woodbine for 50 years purchasing his grandfather’s farm in 1950 where he lived his entire life. After retiring from Exxon in 1986, he drove a School Bus in Carroll County for 10 years and was a voting member on the Carroll County Preservation Board for 10 years. He was a pillared member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Woodbine, Maryland for 50 years where he enjoyed being a choir member, council member and a member of the building committee. He was instrumental in the design, building and movement of Calvary from its original location on Woodbine Road, in Woodbine, to its current location on Old Frederick Road. He enjoyed farming, wood working, building things, traveling, experiencing new places and working outside.
He was the father of late Michael D. Maring and Mark P., and Melanie A. Maring Lundquist; also step father to Tammy J. Perkins; father in law to Patricia B. Maring and Robert H. Lundquist. He was the brother of Clarence A., Richard J., Betty B. Hull, Carl E. and the late Harvey B. Maring; also survived by 3 grandchildren, Gennis Maring-Halmi of Naples Florida, Katelyn and Kristyn Lundquist of Woodbine and 2 step grandchildren, Melissa Perkins and Nicholas Perkins of Baltimore, Maryland and 1 great granddaughter, Marczella Halmi.
Family and Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, Maryland on Sunday, March 25 and Monday, March 26 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 27 at 10:00 AM, Calvary Lutheran Church, 16151 Old Frederick Road, Mt. Airy, Maryland. Interment to follow at Lake View Memorial Park, Eldersburg, Maryland followed by a luncheon at Calvary Lutheran Church. Memorial Contributions can be made to Calvary Lutheran Church and designated for debt service.
