Bernard Aloysious Schwartz Jr, age 81 of Woodbine, Maryland died Monday, August 5th, 2024. He was born August 28th, 1942, in Washington D.C., and was the spouse of Mary Schwartz. Bernie was a retired fire investigator and long-time volunteer for the Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department. He had a passion for photography as well as teaching, having taught underwater rescue, scuba diving, and fire science courses. He loved spending his spare time working on he and Mary’s small farm and attending and taking pictures at his children's and grandchildren’s various activities. His greatest passions were his family and farm.
Surviving relatives include wife Mary Schwartz, son Bernard Schwartz III, daughters Christina Myers and Lindsey Patterson, son-in-law Daniel Patterson, sisters Janet Clark and Edwina Whilden, and grandchildren Zachary Myers, Blake Patterson, Riley Patterson, and Chase Patterson.
The Schwartz family will be hosting a celebration of life on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, at the Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department starting at noon. In lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made in Bernie’s honor to either the Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
