Bernice S. Barnes (nee Shipley), age 92, of Carroll Lutheran Village, formerly of Winfield, MD, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
She was born May 2, 1923 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late John Augustus Shipley and the late Grace V. Shipley (nee Gist).
She was the wife of the late Augustus C. Barnes.
She retired from the State of Maryland; enjoyed watching old movies, and enjoyed Big Band Music and Dance. She enjoyed Life and spending time with her family.
Devoted mother of John S. & Gloria F. Barnes of Westminster, and the late Jeffrey L. Barnes; also survived by daughter in law Sylvia A. Barnes of Finksburg; loving grandmother of 5 grandchildren; Darren, Scott, Cindy, Matthew and Stephanie; and 13 great grandchildren.
Gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday from 4-7 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville (Beside South Carroll High School); where Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. O.F. “Bud” Kibbe officiating.
Inurnment Taylorsville U.M. Church Cemetery, Taylorsville, MD.
