Betty Fowler

Betty Marie Fowler (nee Franklin), age 89 of Westminster, MD passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Kline Hospice in Mt. Airy, MD.
Born December 7, 1934, in Taylorsville, MD she was the daughter of the late James Arthur Franklin and Helen Viola Franklin (nee Sier). Betty was raised in Carroll County. She attended Mt. Airy elementary and high school, graduating in 1953. She earned a BS degree from Towson State Teacher’s College and a master’s degree in education from Western Maryland College. She pursued a career in education as a teacher, supervisor, specialist, and administrator. Most of her career was spent as a specialist in early childhood education with the Maryland State Dept. of Education.
On July 3, 1982, she married Robert Fayette Fowler, an employee of Ford Motor Co. After retirement, they moved to Florida to pursue their favorite sport-golf. They also enjoyed traveling-visited all fifty states and fifty-seven countries.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her late brother Robert Eugene Franklin. She is survived by husband Robert, and her brother James William and wife Sonia.; and her sister-in-law Sharon Franklin. Also Survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at which time the funeral service will begin at 12 Noon at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School).
Interment at Taylorsville Cemetery on Monday.
