Betty Marie Hood Leatherwood, 90 of Mount Airy, MD
Born July 29, 1934 near New Market, MD the daughter of the late Howard E. Hood and the late Olea Runkles Hood. Beloved wife of Howard S. Leatherwood who she married June 6, 1953. She was retired after working 20 years for the Frederick County Board of Education in the Linganore High School Cafeteria. She was an active member of Prospect United Methodist, where she served as secretary of Adm. Board for 54 years. She was Secretary of the United Methodist Women for 47 years and Treasurer for 11 years. Betty was on the Board of Trustees, served as Church Historian, Memorials Secretary and Custodian. She taught Sunday School for 32 years. She was a volunteer 4-H worker for more than 30 years, worked at the Frederick Fair and served as Clerk of the Annual 4-H Cake Auction.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by Daughter Michelle M. Shaver and husband Ralph , Grandchildren R. Keith Leatherwood and wife Courtney, Matthew Leatherwood, R. Uriah Shaver and wife Kyla, Corey E. Shaver, Devin Shaver and wife Candice, Thomas N. Shaver, Great-Grandchildren Tyler Kinser, Ryan Leatherwood, Stefan Shaver, Elias Shaver, Carleigh Leatherwood, Caitlin Leatherwood, Freya Shaver. Also survived by several nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 23, 2024 6pm to 8 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Sykesville, MD (beside S. Carroll High)
