Brian John Dudley, age 60, of New Windsor, MD passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

The beloved husband of Margaret Karen Dudley (nee Kirk) for 37 years.

He was born May 24, 1964, in Baltimore, MD, the son of Daniel Worthington Dudley of Baltimore and the late Eleanor Gertrude Dudley (nee O’Neill).

Among some of our most memorable family times was the RV trip we took in 2017 when Kaitlyn & Allison graduated from college. We enjoyed several weeks traveling through some of the national parks. He said he had always wanted to do that, and it was a wonderful experience that we’ll never forget. We visited Custer State Park, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Tetons, Sioux Falls, Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse- the list goes on. Brian was in awe of everything, and he couldn’t contain his excitement and brought it to everyone around him.

Kaitlyn & Allison surprised Brian with Slingshot rentals in Gatlinburg as we returned from a trip to Mississippi. We spent the day driving through the park and rode the Tail of the Dragon on the Slingshots. In recent years he was able to spend time riding motorcycles and really found joy and relaxation in riding enjoying many local and several extended rides.

Brian believed in volunteering, and it came naturally to him. At one point he was named volunteer of the year with Carroll County Rec & Parks. He coached lacrosse with the WAX program and was internationally undefeated as a lacrosse coach with Maryland Express Lacrosse. He created a brief indoor lacrosse clinic for West Carroll Recreation as well. He coached basketball with St. John’s Westminster, and Westminster Recreation & Parks, as well as soccer with Deer Park and Central Carroll recreation programs. He recently served on the Board of Directors for Maryland Western Horse Association.

He truly enjoyed officiating lacrosse and field hockey with NFHS sports through CMOA but put that on hold to help Allison & Kaitlyn coach the Oakdale High School Field Hockey team. They faced a lot of challenges in his first season with them but the team played in the 2A State Finals.

Brian was an elevator constructor with I.U.E.C. Local 7. He was passionate about the industry, and he remained curious and interested and engaged in the work. Through the teamwork of his Admiral Elevator work family and his boss Vernon Irving, Brian was able to maintain his love of the trade and pursue different roles in the company.

On August 1, 2024, Brian was honored when Mark Nutting and Jason Danker of Local 7, came to present him with his 40-year pin and congratulate him on his retirement from the trade. With many Local 7 members present they took the opportunity to swear in Brian’s oldest daughter Kaitlyn to IUEC Local 7. This was an especially proud moment, and we appreciate that they were able to make that visit so that he could be in attendance. He received his Honorary Gold Card as well and we understand he is in some pretty great company.

Surviving in addition to his wife and father are his daughters Kaitlyn Dudley and Allison Leigh & husband Ryan. The brother of James Dudley and William Dudley & wife Lori. Also survived by his mother-in-law Joyce Kirk, brother-in-law Butch Kirk and wife Michele and James Kirk & fiancé Monique Klapka; nephews Andrew Kirk & fiancé Kara Van Fleet and John Kirk and wife Sabrina.

We would like to remember Brian’s especially, devoted friends-Nick Schwarz, Brian Pfaff, Glenn Kromeke, Scott Lehet, Kevin Bohn, Karen & Alan Bowman, Kaylen Swartzbaugh & Ray Kirby. Brian is remembered by many nieces, nephews, family members, friends, co-workers, and players as he touched many lives on his travels and adventures. He valued these relationships greatly.

Brian’s brother-in-law Butch, was, as Brian said, “a Godsend.” Among other things he made it possible for Brian to make the journey to Hatteras Island for Allison & Ryan’s wedding in September. Without Butch’s devotion and care, this trip wouldn’t have been a possibility. He was able to walk Allison down the aisle and enjoy this wonderful event with family and friends. Butch gave Brian confidence and assured his comfort on every level.

Preceded in death by his brother Daniel Dudley and father-in-law Otis Kirk.
