Mr. Calvin Coolidge Davis, 78 of Mt. Airy, MD, died suddenly on Friday April 28, 2006, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, MD. He was the spouse of Betty Lou Lamb Davis of Mt. Airy, MD. Mr. Davis was born October 9, 1927 in Woodbine, MD the son of the late Samuel G. Davis and the late Rosa R. Woodward Davis. Coolidge enjoyed long drives in the country, bluegrass music, and his cats. Bird watching, reminiscing about his army experiences and spending time with his family. Mr. Davis was a veteran of WWII serving in the occupation of Japan , Re-entered the army when the Korean War began. He served in Japan , Hawaii , Germany , France and Korea . He was awarded the Army Commendation medal, Good Conduct Medals, WWII, Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary medal (Korea). He retired from the Army in 1970 as a SSG-E6. He was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association and American Legion Post 223. Surviving in addition to his wife are Sons: Jeffrey Davis of Mt. Airy, Dennis Hood of Mt. Airy , Daughters: Carolyn Ayala of Baltimore , Sheree Rodriguez of Mt. Airy, Renee Dumire of Lititz, PA, Kimberly Thomas of Mt. Airy, and Kandee Wallace of New Market. Also survived by brother Carl Nelson Davis of Mt. Airy. He was preceded in death by brothers Gordon S. Davis and Wilbur A. Davis who was killed in WWII. Also surviving are 7 Grandchildren and 8 Great-grandchildren. Funeral Service was held Tuesday May 2, 2006 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield , MD 21784 with the Rev. O. F. “Bud” Kibbe officiating. Interment was in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Poplar Springs, MD.
