Calvin D. Thompson, 86 of Ellicott City, MD passed away on December 8 at Ridge Overlook Assisted Living.

Born January 10, 1932 in Fulton he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Eva E. Thompson. Calvin was predeceased by a brother Joseph Thompson, and sisters, Edna Stevens and her husband Robert, Lorraine Miller and her husband Edward.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara B. Thompson, four children, Janice McCoy, Linda Raines and husband Danny, David Thompson and wife Christine and Jim Thompson and wife Kathy; seven grandchildren, Christopher Raines and wife Kaitlin, Shaun McCoy and wife Maureen, Jimmy Thompson and wife Shannon, Kyle Raines and wife Emily, Nick Thompson and wife Erin, Daniel Thompson and wife Erica and Hannah Thompson Gray and husband Matthew; and six great grandchildren.

Calvin attended St. Louis School in Clarksville for eight years and graduated from St. Mildred’s High School (now St. Vincent Pallotti High School), Laurel, MD. He married Barbara B. Blaney in November 1954 and retired from Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) in 1984. After retiring from WSSC, he worked at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City and at Countryside Landscaping, Inc. in Glenwood. His passion and hobby was farming.

He was a lifetime member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Clarksville where he served as an Alter boy and then as an usher.

Calvin was a member of the Howard County Farm Bureau, Fifth District Discussion Group and the Clarksville Seniors.

The family will accept visitors between the hours of Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM

A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville MD 21029 on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM
