Carolyn Simmons
April 22, 1951 — October 6, 2023
Carolyn Marie Simmons (Holmes), 72, of Elkridge, Maryland, previously of Laurel, Maryland, passed away on October 6th, 2023 at home surrounded by family. She was affectionately referred to by many as "Mom," "Nanny," or "Aunt Carol." She was born on April 22, 1951 to the late Hobert Lee Holmes and Florence Wanda Holmes in Saltville, Virginia.
Carol was a family woman. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews were frequently at her house. We laughed and made memories at the many family gatherings she hosted. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her brother, Harold Holmes (Debbie) of South Carolina. Her children, Tracy Simmons of West Virginia, Stephanie Simmons of Maryland, Edward Simmons (Deborah) of Maryland, and Paul Simmons III (Wendy) of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer Holmes, and sisters; Mabel Littrell, Sue Simmons, Helen Howard, Jewel Outen, and Patsy Fitzwater.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5-7 PM with a time to Share memories at 6:30 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School).
