Charles Thomas Hird died Saturday October 25, 2003 at Howard County General Hospital.
He was the spouse of Marie J. Mu Hird .
He was born September 13, 1921 in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.
The son of the late James and Ethel Florence McGinnis Hird
Mr. Hird was a retired Iron Worker with Iron Workers Local #16 .
He was a Veteran of The United States Air Force serving as a crew chief during WWII , a Life Member of American Legion Liberty Post #122 Randallstown, A member of the following Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Reisterstown Moose, Sons of Italy Christopher Columbus Lodge #2240, Odd Fellows Lodge of Dundalk, String Band of America of Sykesville, Country Music Association of Sykesville. Mr. Hird performed music at numerous nursing homes in MD.
Surviving are Children and their spouses: Dannie” Biff” and Sharon Hird of Medina, NY, Robert and Patricia Hird of Eldersburg, Patricia and the late Robert Dillon of Westminster and William”Bud” and Maggie Hird of Hunt Valley.
Mr. Hird was 1 of 13 Children he is survived by 2 siblings Lela Epley of Kearney, Nebraska and Wesley Hird of Kearney, Nebraska.
Also survived by 9 Grandchildren with a special bond to Granddaughter Gina Regalbuto whom he helped raise and 3 great grandchildren, best friends and neighbors Harry and LaRue Shafer. Proceeded in death by one great- grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday October 29, 2003 9AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 9533 Liberty Rd. Randallstown, MD with Fr. Walter McGovern officiating. Interment Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD
The family will receive friends on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with a Sons of Italy Memorial Service on Monday at 7:30 PM and a American Legion Memorial Service on Tuesday at 8 PM.
