Charles Henry Ridgely III, age 95 of Mount Airy was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 29, 2025. Mr. Ridgely passed away at Carroll Hospital Center after a brief illness. Charles was married to Lorraine Smith Ridgely and the couple would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in June, 2025.
Charles H. Ridgely III was born in West Friendship, MD in 1930 and was a life long resident of Howard County.

“Charlie” as he was known by his customers, made his living selling Chevrolets in the four county area. While working for Warfield Chevrolet in Mount Airy he sold his first new Chevrolet on Valentine’s Day 1955. Charlie continued to sell automobiles for the Warfield family at Damascus Motor Co until 2009. He then went to work for long time friend, Jeff Barnes, at Jeff Barnes Chevrolet in Eldersburg until finally retiring from automotive sales in 2019. Charlie enjoyed selling cars but his true joy came from spending time with family, golfing, and tending to his lawn.

Charles was involved with numerous churches and civic organizations during his life to include: St James United Methodist Church, Lisbon United Methodist Church, Mount Airy Bible Church, LakeView Community Church; West Friendship and Lisbon Volunteer Fire Departments, American Legion Post 191, as well as the Elks, Moose, and Lions Clubs.

Mr. Ridgely is survived by his wife, Lorraine, and son Charles H. Ridgely IV (Chuck) and wife Sharon of Mount Airy; grandsons Charles H. Ridgely V (Charlie) and wife Morgan of Nashville TN, Woodrow Kyle Ridgely and Jaclyn Brown of Westminster, great grandson Charles H. Ridgely VI (Hank); nieces Linda Sharp, Charleen Anderson, Jean Hawkins, Susan McConnell; nephews Wayne Smith, Jay Ridgely, Jeff Spaulding, and Brian Mullinix.

Mr. Ridgely was preceded in death by older brother John T. Ridgely, and younger sister Etta Lee Spaulding, as well as sisters-in-law Jane Beaver-Freeland and Hope Ridgely; and brothers-in-law Edgar Smith Jr, Charles Beaver, Richard Mullinix, Bill Spaulding, and niece Joan Buckley.

The family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD. on Tuesday, April 22, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and on Wednesday, April 23, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A memorial service will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 23rd at 11:00 AM officiated by the Rev. Dr. Andrew Hawkins.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a contribution in Mr. Ridgely’s name may donate to the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department Building Fund.
