Daniel Bloch, 70, of Hudson, Florida, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the BridgingLife-Dove House in Westminster, MD, at 8:00 PM. He was the loving husband of his middle school sweetheart, Susan Bloch (née Holmgren), with whom he shared fifty-five wonderful years until her passing in 2020.
Born on March 4, 1954, in Caracas, Venezuela, Daniel was the youngest son of Gerhard and Ruth Bloch, Holocaust survivors who fled persecution for their religious beliefs. The family eventually settled in the United States, and Daniel became a proud American citizen in his adulthood.
A lifelong small business owner, Daniel managed several ventures, including janitorial services, a novelty shop, and carpentry. However, he spent most of his career as an independent eighteen-wheel truck driver, working with companies such as Landstar.
In his free time, Daniel loved spending time with his wife and friends and exploring the open road on his Harley Davidson. He always had a faithful dog by his side, including Foxy, who moved with him from Maryland to Florida after his retirement, and Dusty, his loyal companion of the last 15 years.
Daniel is survived by his older brother, Manfred of Florida, his son Richard, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and grandsons Jacob and Alexander, all of Maryland.
The family will hold private services. Those wishing to honor Daniel’s memory may contribute to The New American Campaign, a non-profit organization that has helped more than 683,000 immigrants become U.S. citizens.
