David Hedlesky, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Woodbine, Maryland on Wednesday June 20, 2018. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and sweet smile.
Mr. Hedlesky was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was the youngest of 6 children of Michael and Wanda Wynn Hedlesky. He grew up in Fauquier County, Virginia, and moved to Maryland in his early twenties. He loved being near the water and he and his wife, Jeannine, had a home in Ocean City, Maryland.
In the early 1970’s, Mr. Hedlesky trained to be a machinist. His first job was as a helper with the Service Machine Shop in Rockville, Maryland. He rose through the organization to become the owner-operator. He continued with the company until his death almost 40 years later. He loved his work and his co-workers.
As a young man, he was a skilled musician with wonderful guitar skills and voice. His siblings remember him best for his rendition of “Please don’t bury me” by John Prine. He also loved to fish for hours, a trait he probably inherited from his grandmother, Alice Wynn.
Mr. Hedlesky is survived by his loving wife, Jeannine Fargis. He has two children from a previous marriage: Kristi Grande and Michael Ryan Hedlesky, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Wanda Hedlesky, age 93, and five older brothers and sisters: Katrina Hedlesky, Steven Hedlesky, Michael Hedlesky, Anna Wynn, and Gina McCartney.
A Remembrance for Mr. Hedlesky will be held at Burrier Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd., Winfield, Maryland 21784, on Wednesday July 11, 2018 at 7:00 PM.
