David P. Smith, 66 of Mt. Airy passed Wednesday, September 7, 2016 after a valiant & courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 6, 1950 in Cumberland, MD, the son of the late Harry Paul Smith and the late Carol Regina (nee Ketzner) Smith Hatfield.
Beloved husband of Linda L. (nee Clodfelter) Smith.
David was a 1968 graduate of Allegany High School and then graduated from the University of Maryland. David was employed by Lockheed Martin as a computer programmer. He enjoyed skiing with his grandkids, carving, trains and collecting guns.
He was the devoted step-father of Melanie Lynn Repp and husband Erich Eugene, step-son James Michael Phipps and wife Genie Rose. Survived by his sister Ann Atkinson and husband Bob and niece Dana Bosmajian. His grandchildren Erich James and Emily Elizabeth Repp, Olivia Winter and Adriana Rose Phipps. Also, survived by several cousins and many friends. Dedicated friend of Bill W.
The Family will receive friends on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11 AM at St. Alphonsus R.C. Church 10800 Old Court Rd., Woodstock, MD 21163.
