Richard Melvin Dixon, 75 of Taylorsville , MD , died Saturday April 7, 2007 at Sinai Hospital . He was the spouse of Elizabeth Williams Dixon. Mr. Dixon was born March 7, 1932 in Baltimore , MD the son of the late William T. Dixon and late Marie Christina Deluca Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a retired Truck driver for Coca-Cola for over 31 years. He drove a School Bus for Devilbis Bus Company. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Dixon was on the Board of Directors of Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club and also there Program Chairman. He was a long time member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where he was a greeter and usher. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, Bird watching and building things for loved ones. He also received a Safety Award for being an excellent driver. Surviving in addition to his wife are Grandchildren: Christy Simonds and Brian Merryman, Great-granddaughter: Trinity Simonds, Sister and Brother-in-law Judy and Jack Bright. Son and Daughter-in-law: Mark and Tammy Long, Daughter and Fiancé Anne Marie Williams and Harry Evans. Son: Scott Long. Grandchildren: Maryelizabeth Williams, Michael Ednum Williams, Jr. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by daughter: Virginia Merryman. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 1:00 PM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church , 4911 Woodbine Rd. Sykesville , MD 21784 . Inurnment Private. The family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield , MD 21784 on Tuesday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM . The Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club 1760 W. Old Liberty Rd. Sykesville , MD 21784 .
