Doris May Whitman (nee Cohen), age 87, of Frederick, formerly of Sykesville, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Kline Hospice House in Frederick, MD.
She was born January 28, 1928 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Edward A. Cohen and the late Mary Roeder Cohen.
She was the wife of Charles D. Whitman, passed in 1991.
She loved spending time with her family and friends. She liked to garden, eat crabs, go camping and go to Ocean City. She watched the Orioles and the Ravens and the Titans. She was a member of the Pi Omicron Alpha Beta Sorority and traveled with her sorority sisters to many conventions. She was a member of Milford Mill United Methodist Church. She worked for Mosler Safe Company as a receptionist/clerk then after retiring she worked at Falls Road Travel and Roeder Travel.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-laws: Kathie L. and Henry “Buck” Blevins and Vicki L. and Ronald Bland; grandchildren- Brian & Paige Whitman, Michael & Jen Blevins, Casey & Rob Powers, Karin & Eric Johnson, Charles “CB” & Michelle Blevins, and Christie & Kevin Simpson; 12 great grandchildren-Byron and Emily Blevins, Cole Blevins, Noah, Luke, Eli, and Avagrace Powers, Corey and Zach Simpson and Peter and Allen Whitman; sister in law Virginia Roeder Cobb, dearest forever friend Edna Morgan, devoted niece Mimi Roeder Vaughan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by son James Randolph “Randy” Whitman, Brother Marvin J. Roeder, and nephew James Roeder.
