Dorothy Lyell

Dorothy Frances (Stier) Lyell 89 of Sykesville, died Sunday September 16, 2012. She was the spouse of the late Richard Middleton Lyell, Sr. She was born February 6, 1923 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late William Henry Stier, Sr. and the late Bertha W. (Westphal) Stier. Mrs. Lyell was a Unit Clerk at Carroll Hospital Center and upon retiring she continued to volunteer at the hospital for an additional 22 years. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She enjoyed painting, wine and loved animals especially cats and dogs. Surviving her are Son Richard M. Lyell, Jr. of Sykesville, Daughter Donna J. Dove of Retrop, OK, Grandchildren Wilber E. Dove, Jr., Jefferson L. and wife Tina Dove, Elizabeth P. and husband Landru Medvec, John A. P. Dove and girlfriend Courtney Costantino. Great-grandchildren Octavian F. and Jameson T. Medvec. Predeceased by Sister Stier Callahan and Brother William H. Stier, Jr. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012, 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PO Box 4527 New York, NY 10163.
