Dorothy H. Twenty, “Dottie” (ne’ Grine) passed away at home on July 26, 21 from
complications from a long battle with Huntington’s Disease. A loving wife, mother, and
grandmother, as well as an outstanding elementary educator, Dorothy attended Towson
State Teacher’s College and retired from Baltimore County Board of Education after
many years of devoted teaching. She is survived by her Spouse, Larry L. Twenty, Sr,
her daughter, Michelle Grantham (nee’ Merryman) with her spouse Steven and son,
Wilden. Dorothy also is survived by her two stepsons, Larry Jr and his wife, Jodi and
her two sons and 4 grandchildren, and Vincent Twenty. She is also survived by her
siblings, Earl Grine, Sally Lujan, and Elizabeth Lyons and their families including many
beloved nieces and nephews and some great nephews and brand new, beautiful
grandniece. She is predeceased by her parents, Helen and Albert Grine, and by her
brother-in-law, David Lyons and her nephew Jon Lyons.
Dottie loved animals, gardening, and cooking. She will always be remembered for
having the 99 Zucchini Recipe book. Dottie was thrilled to become a grandparent and
her delight in all the children in her family was tremendous. For the last dozen years her
family have cared for her, mostly at home, she was blessed with a truly devoted
husband and our whole family has been watched over by our dear friend, Dottie’s Caregiver,
Robin Owens.
Dorothy is to be cremated. At this time there are no plans for a burial or memorial.
The Huntington’s Disease Society of America has been a helpful resource for us, and
our local hospital and some medical providers involved in Dottie’s care over the years.
