Dorothy Van Dyke

Dorothy Audrey Van Dyke, 89, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in York, Pennsylvania. She was the spouse of the late Eugene C. Van Dyke. She was born February 26, 1923 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Julian Ashman and the late Emily Ashman. She worked at Glen L. Martin Airport during World War II, and then for many years at the telephone company, where she assumed various roles and responsibilities. She was an ovarian cancer survivor, 20 years ago. Her hobbies included crocheting, pets and traveling to various countries and U.S. states with her daughter. She was preceded in death by an older sister and brother. Surviving are her daughter, Julie (Van Dyke) Steeper and her fiancé, Bruce Ulanet. A celebration of her life will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd., Winfield, MD 21784 on Saturday October 27, 2012 2:00 PM .
