Douglas Lee Schlotterbeck of Mount Airy passed away on Monday December 20, 2010 at Frederick Memorial Hospital at the age of 79. He was born March 10, 1931 in Hagerstown, MD the son of the late Edward E. and late Isabela Valentine Schlotterbeck. Mr. Schlotterbeck was the devoted husband of Letitia B. “Tink” Schlotterbeck. Douglas was a member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren and proudly served as a member of the MD State Police for twenty two years. During his retirement he was a noted authority in the restoration of antique time pieces. A Forty year member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, he was very active in the local “Free State “Chapter # 141 of the NAWCC. Surviving in addition to his wife of 60 years are sons and Daughter-in-law Michael L. and Patricia Schlotterbeck of Mobile, AL and Jeffrey L. Schlotterbeck of West Palm Beach, FL. Four Grandchildren: Jeffrey, Kristin, Lauren and Katie, 3 great grandchildren, Sisters Bonnie Bell Spickler and Mary Ellen Renner and brother Edward L. Schlotterbeck. Preceded in death by his sister Jo Anne Etter of Waynesboro, PA. As per his wishes Graveside Services will be conducted by Pastors Hall and Lusk at Rest Haven Cemetery 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21742 Sec 128 Site 4 1:00 PM Monday December 27, 2010. A Memorial Celebration will be conducted at a future date in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glassines Mill Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771. The Family expresses their gratitude to all their friends and neighbors, the doctors and the nurses who supported them during his illness.
