Dr. Bharat B. Agrawal passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on July 21, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife Carol of 53 years; dedicated Father to Chandra and her husband Matthew; and Arun and his wife Misty. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Skylar, Sydney, Leila, Savannah, Jimmy and great grandfather to Carver. He was eldest to his surviving two brothers Prem and Mohan and sister, Usha. He was courageous to the end, never losing his sense of humor. Even in the hours before his passing he was concerned about his family more than himself. He received his Masters from Johns Hopkins University, and subsequently, his PhD from the University of Wyoming. He reached the pinnacle of success professionally as a PhD in Nuclear Physics working for the Department of Energy. However, he would say his greatest achievement was his family. He was a proud American who immigrated to the United States from India in 1967, and as he would say he lived the American dream. He was a gentleman with integrity and kindness. He was protective of his family and wasn’t afraid to stand up for what he believed. For those who knew him, they will remember his playful humor, and his genuine love of people. He made wonderful friends at his gym in Mt Airy, MD, and even with his health struggles, he willed himself to see his friends there. He loved his wife, Carol, so much so, that although he was Hindu, he regularly attended her Christian church to which he was invited to speak to the congregation on several occasions. He loved to give heartfelt speeches to celebrate loved ones. He loved to travel and see new sites. He loved taking the love of his life, Carol, to these destinations, especially their trip to Brussels and Italy. At the end, he said he had no regrets. He will be remembered with love and admiration for his incredible life from growing up in India, having big dreams, and following those dreams to the United States. What he didn’t calculate was meeting the love of his life and raising a family here in the US. Sometimes the best plans are the ones not planned. He would have agreed. His remembrance and celebration of his life will take place at the Poplar Springs United Methodist Church, 911 Watersville Rd., Mt. Airy, MD 21771 on September 14,, 2024 at 11am.
