Edward Clarence Hornberger, age 88, of Sykesville, died Saturday, May 04, 2013 at Seasons Hospice at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, MD.
He was born September 29, 1924 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Emerald Edgar Hornberger and the late Mary Ellen Hampton Hornberger.
He was the husband of the late Dolores Jean Hornberger (nee Rose).
He was an Estimator for Maritime Administration. He served in the US Navy during WWII Pacific as a Signalman 2nd Class. He earned a purple heart in WWII as well as 6 battle starts in pacific campaign, a silver star and a bronze star.
He was the father of Edward J. Hornberger and wife Kathryn of Sykesville, Steven J. Hornberger and wife Laurie of Hampstead, MD, Mary T. Schroeder and husband Fred of Mt. Airy, MD and Alice L. Gondeck and husband John of Denton, MD.
He was the grandfather of Alicia, Jason and Mary Gondeck, Nick, Courtney and Alex Hornberger, Christopher and Brittanie Schroeder and Eddy and Dan Hornberger and also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
Brother of Bud Hornberger of Ellicott City and Norris Hornberger of Baltimore and the late Frank Hornberger.
Casual Gathering will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville (Beside South Carroll High School).
Private interment.
