Edward Louis Jason, Jr., 82, of Sykesville passed away at home on Thursday, February 11, 2016. He was a loving husband of 39 years to Barbara Jean (Garvick) Jason of Sykesville. Born July, 11, 1933 in Winfield, he was the son of the late Edward Louis Jason, Sr. and Sophia Louise (Myers) Jason.
Edward was a graduate of Robert Moton High School in Westminster. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, then ground combat forces during the Korean War. He was a maintenance engineer at Simkins Industries in Catonsville for over thirty years until retirement. Edward was best described as a devoted husband, father and brother, an avid music enthusiast, and a sports aficionado. He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Eldersburg, MD.
Edward’s spirit lives on through his three loving daughters, Brandi Jason of Sykesville, Lori Edmonds and husband Willy of Reisterstown, and Gretchen Stanton and husband Barry of Upper Marlboro. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Taren Butcher and husband Sydney, and Adrienne Strickler; one great granddaughter, Kayli Filipowicz; three sisters, Lillian Nelson and husband Moses, Dorothy Hollingsworth and husband Charles, and Estelle Buie; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; beloved cat, Madison. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Jason, Wilbur Jason, Leroy Jason, and Fred Jason, and two sisters, Della Cook and Mabel Gundy.
The family will receive visitors Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. in Winfield, MD. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 11:00 am at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. with Rev. Robin Simpson Linton of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
