Edward “Buzzy” Francis Nickoles passed away, peacefully, in his sleep on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at his home in Sykesville, MD. The eldest of nine children, Ed was born on June 4, 1935, to Mary Elizabeth Luers Nickoles and Victor Joseph Nickoles.
Ed spent his young life working on the family farm. After leaving the family farm, he was a carpenter/ building contractor, as well as a truck driver. Later, he owned several companies including T.E.C Media (Outdoor Advertising) and Woodbine Inn. Buzzy enjoyed spending time with his family and mowing, as Ed would say, “the back 40” of his property. His family remembers Ed for his sense of humor and famous cowboy hat.
In addition to his parents, Ed is predeceased by sister Mary “Susie” Gordon and brothers Leroy Nickoles and Victor Nickoles, Jr and second wife Linda Nickoles. Surviving in addition to his wife, Marylin Nickoles, are his first wife Carolyn Edmonson, children; Dene (Nickoles) Neal and husband Bill Neal, of Harpers Ferry, WV, Eddie Nickoles and wife Nancy Nickoles, of Sykesville MD and Tina Nickoles of WV; grandchildren, Bill Neal, Ashley Barnes, Jesse Neal, R.T White, Jacob Nickoles, Jarod Nickoles, Justin Francis, Dillon Francis and April Slifker; 13 great grandchildren and siblings Patsy Doyle, Thomas Nickoles, Ruth Ann Burns, Charles “Punky” Nickoles and Diane Nickoles, and many nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday August 4, 2021, at 11 am, with a visitation on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, from 6 to 8 pm. Both held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A.; 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Sykesville MD 21784.
