Elizabeth “Betty” Meekins (nee Mathena) of Woodstock, MD, age 94, died Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Copper Ridge in Sykesville, MD.

She was born April 12, 1930, in Millville, WV, the daughter of the late Vernon W. Mathena and Ethelean Mathena (nee Wilt).

Beloved wife of Angus Dewey Meekins for 76 years, married on September 10, 1948.

Survived by her children Denny Meekins and wife Joyce, Sherri Meekins, and the late Keith Meekins and late Steven A. Meekins; grandchildren Kenny Stewart and wife Heidi, Melissa Farley and husband Tom, Jessica Landgraf, Wayde Zimmerman and Daniel Meekins; great grandchildren Harrison, Maxwell, Nathan, Blair, Colton and Morgan; sister of Breman Mathena, Charles “Doc” Mathena, Larry Mathena, Patricia Haddaway; the late Vivian Leatherwood, late Vernon Mathena, Jr., late Barbara Harris and the late Mary Jane Geisler; also survived by daughter in law Sue Meekins.

She was a manager at her Mobile Home Park for 20 years; a member of the Granite Presbyterian Church in Granite, Maryland, enjoyed crafts and crafts shows, bus trips, ceramics, dolls, and planting flowers. She enjoyed seeing her great grandchildren and spending time with them.

The family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School) on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 1:00-4:00 PM.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Granite Presbyterian Church, at 10637 Old Court Road, Woodstock, MD 21163, with Pastor Kim Nofel of Granite Presbyterian Church officiating, with a luncheon to follow at the church hall.

Interment will be in Granite Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
