1940 – 2024

Felicitas D. Dojillo, affectionately known as “Feling” to her family & friends, peacefully departed on Friday, March 8, 2024, with her daughter, Amie, and granddaughter, Amiel, by her side at the age of 83.

Born on June 21, 1940, in Borongan, Eastern Samar, Philippines, to Eugenio and Juliana Dala, who tragically perished in World War II. Feling and her two siblings were raised by their aunt, Maria Teresa Sabate.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and began her teaching career in Northern Samar, where she met her husband, Gemino Dojillo, in Laoang. Their marriage was shortened by his untimely passing, leaving Feling to raise their children single-handedly. Feling cherished her role as an educator, retiring in 1998. She never remarried, devoting her life to caring for the needs of her children and their families. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

She traveled the world with her eldest daughter, Babie before settling in Maryland with her daughter, Amie, in 2004. History and English were her areas of interest. Her hobbies included reading, writing, and knitting. She could compose eloquent essays and was particularly inspired by one of her favorite authors, J. A. Langford:

“The only true equalizers in the world are books;
The only treasure house open to all comers is a library;
The only wealth which will not decay is knowledge;
The only jewel which you can carry beyond the grave is wisdom.”

Feling, a beacon of wisdom and love, was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. Her life was defined by humility, patience, resilience, and a buoyant spirit. She faced life’s challenges with courage, finding solace in prayer.

Preceded in death by her youngest child, Eugene and her sister, Rosita. She is survived by her children: Babie, Nathan, Didith, Gloria, Eva, Amie, Dan, Daisy, her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, her sister, Silveria, relatives, and dear friends.

Feling will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The Dojillo family extends heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated physicians, nurses, and the compassionate team at Frederick Health Hospice for their invaluable support during her final journey.
