Frances V. Black, originally of Norton, Ohio, residing in Holbrook, Maryland, died on May 3rd, 2017. Francie was an unstoppable woman with an enormous heart and captivating laugh. Her life was so full she hardly ever sat down, and that was how she liked it. She loved blue skies, nature, creating gardens, being crafty, and we can’t forget – everything purple. Go Ravens! She had a thirst for adventure and a willingness to try new things. Ambitious in the goals she set for herself and driven to accomplish them, Francie dedicated herself to the nursing profession for over 45 years. She earned a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration and faithfully worked at Howard County General, a member of Johns Hopkins, until becoming a Nurse Practitioner in her “retirement”. She was selfless in her pursuit to help and continued her nursing passion by assisting the geriatric population through community outreach programs with Gilchrist/GBMC. Most all, she loved her family. She is survived by her husband, Ron; daughters, Lauren and Christen (Jon); grandchildren, Jack, Colin and Callum; and eight siblings; preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Francie’s family would like to thank the M.D.s, NPs, nurses, and staff in the ICU at Sinai and Gilchrist (HoCo), Carroll County emergency personnel, and especially family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held during the summer. Information forthcoming. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation in her honor to support Howard County General Hospital. Francie was selfless, always thinking about others. With her as an example, please choose to pass it on. She would if she were here. https://howardhospitalfoundation.thankyou4caring.org.
