Galen Mckenzie

Galen McKenzie, Sr., 87 of Sykesville, MD passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was the beloved husband of Nancy McKenzie (nee Mummert) for 64 years.
Galen was born October 20, 1936, in Grantsville, MD the son of the late Grant McKenzie and the late Beatrice McKenzie (nee Garlitz).
He was a co-owner of G & T Auto. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, camping, traveling, taking cruises, and antique cars & tractors. Galen also learned how to fly and enjoyed flying his own plane. He enjoyed spending time at their house in Virginia near the Rappahannock river.
Surviving in addition to his wife, is his son Galen McKenzie, Jr. & wife Chris; grandchildren Alyssa Dice & husband Cameron and Brittany McKenzie; step-grandchildren Kimberly Moore and Timothy Brathuhn and 2 step-great grandchildren Dakota, Zoey and Hadlee. Also survived by his brothers Frederick, Michael and Jerry McKenzie and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Morris McKenzie and sister Patricia M. Sears.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 4-7 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School), where funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 11:30 AM.
Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
