Gary Edward Summers, 61, of Skaggsville, died unexpectedly September 24, 2023 at his residence. He was born March 9, 1962 in Howard County to the late Gorman Franklin Summers and Ruth Ann (Reed) Summers. Mr. Summers never married and had no children. Mr. Summers worked in the Information Technology field for most of his career. He retired as a Software Programmer / Analyst with Kaiser Permanente and other Information Technology positions with High’s / Southland Corp., S. Freedman and Son, Inc., McKesson Corp., and Amisys, LLC. Mr. Summers was a 1980 graduate of Mount Hebron High School and received degrees from Howard County Community College, and the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Mr. Summers was a collector of all things small and large. He enjoyed his spirited conversations with his parents, brothers, and other family members. Mr. Summers enjoyed outdoor recreational hobbies to include camping, hunting, fishing, and motorcycle riding. He enjoyed astronomy, star gazing, and space exploration and was an avid volleyball player. Mr. Summers is survived by his two brothers, Michael Alan Summers and wife Corrine of Fitzgerald, Georgia; and Kenneth Rueben Summers of Myersville; sister-in-law, Kelly Summers of Randallstown, and nephews Adam Summers and Evan Summers. He also is survived by many cousins and several aunts. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Donald James Summers, and sister-in-law Lisa (Ciralli) Summers. Mr. Summers was cremated and a Celebration of Life for Mr. Summers will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821 Green Valley Road, Monrovia, Maryland 21770.
