George E. Ellis, Jr., 83, of Eldersburg, MD passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, peacefully with his loving family by his side.
He was born on June 14, 1938, in Brooklyn New York, the son of the late George E. Ellis, Sr. and Lillian (nee Hagan) Ellis.
He was a devoted husband for 57 years to the late Teresa (nee Edwards) Ellis.
He is survived by his sisters, Patricia (Ellis) Carey and Mary Beth (Ellis) Cavanaugh. HE was the beloved father of Margaret Pendagast (William), Laura Weir (Glen), Kimberly Kovack (Jerry), Rosemary McDaniel-Hollenbaugh and George Ellis (Hollie). The cherished grandfather of Kaitlin Shaw (Glen), Megan Pendagast, Julia Pendagast, Christopher Weir (Sallie), Stephen Weir, Kelly Weir, Ryan Kovack, Lindsay Kovack, Britaney McDaniel, Taylor Hollenbaugh, Luke Ellis, Blake Sheaffer, Emilee Sheaffer, and lily Sheaffer and his great-grandson, Theodore Weir; and many nieces and nephews.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1962, he began his distinguished business career with IBM where he worked for many years. After moving to Maryland in 1985, he worked for Ceridian where he ended his career as the president of the tax division.
He and his beloved wife, Teresa moved to the Penn National of Fayetteville, PA; community in 2005 where he enjoyed playing golf. They spent great times traveling with family and friends to Hawaii, Ireland, Italy, England, France, Australia, as well as many domestic trips. He enjoyed reading, music, gardening, cooking and loved to watch a good comedy with his family. His laughter was simply contagious. His love of cooking was enjoyed by the entire family. Family gatherings were great not only because we were all together, but we also got to enjoy Pop’s sausage and peppers, seafood chowder and his unreal linguine and clam sauce.
A funeral mass will be said on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784
Inurnment to follow at CrestLawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 29, 2021, from 6-8 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Winfield, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School).
