On Friday, September 27, 2024, George Alan Siegrist of Mt. Airy, MD passed peacefully at the Dove House in Westminster, Maryland. Those who loved him most surrounded him in his final earthly days. Born on August 28, 1957, in Rockville, Maryland to Herald and Edna Siegrist, Alan came to know his second “family” as an adolescent and was welcomed with open arms by Jim and Shirley Glazier. Alan became as much a loyal member of the Glazier family as any blood relative. A man of many talents and seemingly endless abilities, Alan held certifications as a master auto mechanic, locksmith, book-keeper, and private and commercial pilot. Alan enjoyed his time volunteering with the Civil Air Patrol, helping to foster and grow the next generation of local pilots. As a young adult, Alan would find his third “family” and went on to become a life member of the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company. A recipient of several awards through the years including The President’s and Chief’s awards, Alan fulfilled many duties with the fire company far beyond his years as a medic and fireman. He treasured the friendships and bonds forged with those he came to know and love at MAVFC. Comfort is found in the promise that Alan is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and with those beloved family and friends who passed before him. Alan is survived by his brothers Buddy (Lori), Dave (Ann), & Mike (Stacey) Glazier, Harold Seigrist & sister Gail Greer, an abundance of nephews, nieces, and his firehouse family.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 3 ,2024 at 1 PM at the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company, Reception Hall, 1008 Twin Arch Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Alan’s honor to the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company 702 N Main St, Mount Airy, Maryland 21771 or Carroll Hospice, Inc., 292 Stoner Ave, Westminster, Maryland 21157 (CarrollHospice.org).
