Helen Mon Tessa Arndt (nee Hartman), age 99, of Baltimore, died Friday, September 12, 2014 at Augsburg Lutheran Home in Baltimore, MD.
She was born October 25, 1914 in Baltimore, MD., the daughter of the late Barbara Louise (nee Klohr) and the late William Hartman.
She was a lifelong resident of Baltimore County. She worked as a hair dresser for 10 years then owned and operated her beauty shop in her home on Mayfield Ave. for over 50 years. She continued hairdressing when she moved to Augsburg Lutheran Village in 1997. She was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church of Hebbville, MD. Where she played piano and taught Sunday school for many years.
Twice widowed, she was the wife of the late Leonard Monroe Koontz for 31 years and the late Carlton Leslie Arndt, Sr. for 14 years.
She was predeceased by brothers Russell and Arthur Hartman and sister Mary Lou Pahl.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law David and Connie Koontz of Monrovia, and grandsons Matthew Koontz of Baltimore and Adam Koontz of Catonsville, and great granddaughters Sophia and Cora, both of Catonsville.
Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM; Where Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Helen Armiger of Salem U.M. Church in Hebbville officiating.
