Ian Mark Beam, of Manchester, MD, passed away on October 9, 2021, at the age of 46.
Ian was born on May 2, 1975, to Byron and Yvette Beam, the oldest sibling to Carie and Luke. From an early age, Ian was on the move both mentally and physically. He started reading license plates from his toddler car seat and by Kindergarten his teacher relied on him to read to the rest of his class. He was a speed reader before that was even a thing. Ian also led his younger siblings on creek hikes and neighborhood explorations, really only stopping his adventures to read. He went on to compete as an athlete in cross country, track, volleyball, and hockey.
Ian had a way of transforming ideas into opportunities. Growing up, he enjoyed canoeing trips on the lake, rock climbing, beach volleyball, boogie boarding and homemade ice hockey rinks. If he loved it, he would help make it happen. Many of his friends would say Ian lived life big. As an adult, his passions were his family, hunting, and coaching kids in multiple sports. He was a dedicated husband, father, and friend, who loved to help people find their own passions. Ian loved and served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the same intensity he did the rest of his life and wanted the same for family and friends.
Ian was a graduate of Liberty High School in Eldersburg, MD and Houghton College in Houghton, NY.
Ian was employed by and served the state of Maryland for nearly two decades.
He is survived by his amazing wife of 17 years, Stephanie (Happel) and their six children: Caleb (14), Jacob (12), Isaac (10), Ezekiel (9), Genevieve (6) and Rebecca (5). He is also survived by his parents, Byron and Yvette (Dawson) Beam of Sykesville, MD; siblings Carie Beam and Luke Beam, his mother and father-in-law Sue and Brian Happel, 6 brothers-in-law, 6 sisters-in-law, 6 nieces and 6 nephews. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and loved him. Until we meet again.
βHe will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.β Revelation 21:4
