J. Edward Kersey, age 86, of Augsburg Lutheran Home, formerly of Pikesville and Eldersburg, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Sinai Hospital.
Ed was born November 10, 1929 in Stevensville, MD, the son of the late John F. Kersey and the late Helen K. Kersey (nee Porter).
He was the husband of Kathleen Peters Covey-Kersey and the late E. LaVern Kersey (nee Chance).
He served in the US Army during Korea from 1951-1953. He was a Clerk for the CSX Railroad; and was a valued part-time employee of the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA. He was a former member of Centreville Lodge #180 A.F & A.M and later transferred to Prudence Lodge #191 A.F. & A.M. in Mt. Airy. He was a member of Milford Mill U.M. Church in Pikesville.
He was the father of Carlton Kersey, William “Billy” Kersey, and Calvin Kersey, Sandra L. Hensley, Thomas B. Covey, James B. Covey and the late Robert J. Covey, Jr.
Grandfather of Jordan and Jonathan Kersey, Jordan and Connor Anderson, Daniel, Timothy and Jennifer Hensley, Sara Johnson, Tyler, Logan, Conner and Brady Covey; also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
Family and Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville (Beside South Carroll High School) on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM; with a Prudence Masonic Lodge Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral Service will be held, Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Milford Mill U.M. Church, 915 Milford Mill Road, Pikesville, MD 21208; with the Rev. Marlon Tilghman and Dr. Laura Easto officiating, Interment with Military honors will be held Friday, December 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, If desired, Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association and or Milford Mill U.M.
