James John Rood
James (Jim) John Rood, 61, of Germantown, MD passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025,
at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove.
Born April 1,1963 to Robert and Patricia Rood, he was raised in Cleveland Heights, OH
where he graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1981. After attending Ohio
University, he transferred and graduated from Cleveland State University in 1993 where
he earned a degree in Business Administration, Management and Labor Relations.
He has spent 30+ years working as a Project Manager, Facilities Manager or Sr. Facilities
Manager. He made many contacts and friends along the way and was well respected
by all.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to movies, attending concerts, enjoying
a good wine at the wineries, weekend getaways and visiting friends when he could.
He was an avid fan of Cleveland sports; the Guardians (always the Indians for Jim), the
Cavaliers and the Browns. Even though he was in Maryland for 31 years…Cleveland
was always home!
Jim is survived by his fiancé, Jacquie Boyle; his children, son Colby Rood and daughter
Kristina Code (husband Jose Marroquin), along with his grandson Jack, who were his
pride and joy; sister Laura Gurnee; sister Patti (Len) Snelly; brother Bob (Anne) Rood;
brother Doug (Kim) Rood; nephew and nieces, Michael (Thea) Snelly; Alex (Megan)
Snelly; Kelsey Rood; Colin Rood; Ollie Rood; Chris Rood and Andrew Rood; great
nieces and nephews, Isla Snelly, Parks Snelly and Cameron Snelly; along with many
lifelong friends. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Patricia Rood; great-nephew
Mason Snelly.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring, date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his name to a
cancer charity of your choosing.
