Jeanne Meeks
May 19, 1919 — March 29, 2024
Jeanne Shannon Meeks (nee Seale), 104, of DeLand FL, formerly of Alabama and Maryland, passed away on Friday March 29, 2024 resting peacefully at her home in Florida.
She was born May 19,1919 in Montgomery, AL the only child of Emmett and Eugenia Seale. She was predeceased by her husband John Odatus Shannon, her second husband, Roger R. Meeks, Sr and two sons John Odatus Shannon III and Patrick Michael Shannon. She is survived by her daughters Jeanda Ward, Seale George (Hank), stepdaughter Michele Leppert (Denny) and her daughter in-law Beth Shannon. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Jeanne was a gifted artist, photographer and creative talent. She attributed her longevity to following the motto “Live, Love, Laugh”. Among her numerous awards and recognitions, the Daughters of the American Revolution presented Jeanne with a “Women in American History” certificate on her 100th birthday.
Gathering of family and friends will take place at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W Old Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784, Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 10:30 AM until service begins at 11:00 AM.
Interment to follow at Wards Chapel U.M. Church Cemetery, Randallstown, MD.
