John Wilson “Reds” Abbott, Sr. 79 of Mt. Airy, MD, died Saturday September 18, 2010 at his home in Mt. Airy. He was the spouse of Dorothy (Shipley) Abbott. He was born April 22, 1931 in Carroll County Md the son of the late James Wilson Abbott and late Margaret Louise (Schlarb) Abbott. He was a retired Baltimore City Firefighter at 12 Truck and Engine 45. He was a member of Lehigh Riding Club, Past Member of Taylorsville Hunt Club, Carrollton and Mayberry Hounds. He loved to Hunt and Fish. Surviving in addition to his wife are Son: John W. Abbott, Jr. and wife Dawn of Woodbine, Daughter: Janice C. and Joe Spencer of Reisterstown, Daughter: Joyce Abbott Rill and husband Brian of Manchester, Son: Jeffrey D. and wife Nancy Abbott of Stevensonville. Sister : Vivian Schouberger, June Montour. Grandchildren: Jason, Daniel, Rachel, Gabrielle, Valerie and Jesse Abbott, Nicole Wilson, Christopher and Shawn Spencer. 2 Great-grandchildren Aubrianne and Shayla Abbott. Preceded in death by Sister Leona Holt and James M Abbott. Funeral Services will be held Thursday September 23, 2010 11 Am at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday September 21, 2010 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Carroll Hospice 292 Stoner Ave. Westminster, MD 21157.
