John was born June 22, 1953, in Bethesda, MD. He was the son of the late John Oscar Hogan and Margaret Roberts Crozier. He was the husband of Kimberly Mode Hogan of Sykesville. John was a Corrections Officer with the Anne Arundel County Department of Corrections for twelve years before retiring to own and operate Hogie’s Hot Dogs. John enjoyed cooking for family and friends, rooting for the downtrodden Washington Redskins, being with family, and making people laugh John Michael Hogan, age 61, of Sykesville, died April 12, 2015 at home with his family surrounding him. . John attended Calvary Baptist Church in Westminster. Surviving in addition to his wife are his son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Stephanie Hogan of Pasadena, daughter and son-in-law Rachel and Robert Ashton of Severn, sister Victoria Hogan of Glen Burnie, and his precious grandchildren, John Michael “Jack”, Maxwell, Allison, Jacob and Emily. He is also survived by his much loved extended family. John was predeceased by his brother Charles Gregory Sassen.
A Memorial Service celebrating John’s life will be held Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 3200 Ridge Road, Westminster. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325 in his honor.
