Mr. John Wesley Simms, Jr., 86 of Mount Airy, MD departed this life on Tuesday June 10, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Mt. Airy, MD
Born January 25, 1928 in Mount Airy, he was the son of the late John Wesley Simms, Sr. and Mary Beatrice.
Johnny graduated from Robert Moton School in 1946. Upon his graduation he joined the United States Coast Guard.
Johnny was preceded in death by two brothers Edward "Randolph" and Charles and four sisters, Rosie, Nora "Irene", Lucille and Elizabeth. He is survived by ho two brothers James Simms, Sr. (Edith) of Mount Airy, Richard "Joe" Simms(Beverly) of Frederick, four sisters Mary "Doris" Myers (Herman) of Mt. Airy, Ruth "Bernice" Davis of New York, NY, Geraldine "Rodetta" Dorsey of Mount Airy, and Joan Moore (Maurice) of Baltimore and one sister-in-law, Georgia Lee of Greenville, MS He also leaves behind a host of nieces, Nephews, and Great Nieces and nephews.
The Viewing will be held for 10 AM to 11 AM Monday June 16, 2014 11:00 AM a t BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784
Funeral service will follow promptly at 11 :00 AM.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
