Joseph Casimir Ignatius, Jr., age 67 of Sykesville, MD died unexpectedly on July 20, 2023, on the grounds of the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Wirral, United Kingdom while completing his bucket list adventure to see the British Open.
Joe was the spouse of the late Linda Ignatius (Adams).
He was born on January 1, 1956, in Elizabeth, PA to the late Joseph and Mary Ann Ignatius (Baskitis).
He enjoyed retirement after over 30 years of employment to the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Baltimore, MD as a Civil Engineer. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Joe graduated from Elizabeth Forward High school in 1973 with high honors. Joe was active in many organizations, including the Knights of Columbus Council #3960, parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, and a senior golf member at Musket Ridge.
Surviving is his son, Joseph Ignatius, III and his partner Jonathan Castillo of Baltimore, MD, sisters, Mary Jo and Judy Ignatius of Elizabeth, PA, father-in-law, Sylvester Adams of Sykesville, MD, nieces and nephews, Thomas and Cassie Ignatius, Robert Banks (Joanna), Jennifer Butler (Gerry), Laura Ross (Brian), and nine wonderful great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Benjamin, brother, Vince Ignatius, mother-in-law, Mary Ann Adams, and sister-in-law, Nancy Holt.
Funeral Mass will be conducted at Holy Family Catholic Church in Randallstown, MD on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Father Raymond Harris of Holy Family Catholic Church officiating.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD.
The family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home 1212 W. Old Liberty from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Friday, August 25, 2023, with a wake service at 7:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Saint Vincent de Paul of Baltimore, the American Lung Association, and Angel of Hope of Maryland.
