Joseph F. Orlando, age 83 of Mt. Airy, MD, passed away Friday morning November 28, 2014 at Lorien Nursing Home in Mt Airy MD due to complications of Parkinson’s disease.
He was surrounded by a loving and caring family and staff. Known to all as Frank. He was born Sept 14, 1931 in Washington, DC to the late Joseph Francis and Marion Burch Orlando. He is survived by his wife of 58 years H. Arlene Dabbs Orlando. Predeceased are brothers Raymond Orlando and surviving are sister- in- law Margaret Orlando and James E. Orlando with surviving sister- in- law Christl Orlando.
He served in US Air force during the Korean War and later became an electrician and member of Local 26.
Also surviving are children and spouses: William & Barbara Orlando of Martinsburg WVA, Donna & Stephen Mullinix of Dayton MD, Brian Orlando of Taylorsville MD, and Terri & Jeffrey Reiter of Mt Airy MD. In addition survivors are his seven grandchildren Matthew & Joyce Orlando, Stefanie & Nicole Mullinix, and Danielle, Rion, and William Reiter. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, endless kindness, his generosity to help anyone, working hard no matter what it was, and his love for his ‘65 Mustang.
A Memorial funeral mass and celebration of his life will be Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 am at St Michael’s R.C. Church in Poplar Springs in the chapel with Fr. Michael Ruane officiating.
Private interment.
