Joyce Thomas

Joyce Thomas, 91 of New Windsor passed away at home in the presence of her loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in New York in 1931 to the Reverend Charles and Marguerite Owen. She was the widow of the late William L Thomas. Together they raised 2 children and had 5 grandchildren.
Joyce spent her early years in Romulus, New York, before moving to Taneytown, where her father was pastor at the Presbyterian church. She graduated in 1947 from Taneytown High School and the University of Maryland in 1951. She taught Home Economics at New Windsor School, starting in 1967. She earned a Masters in Education from Western Maryland College in 1977. Joyce retired from teaching at New Windsor in 1993.
