Kenwood Collard

Kenwood John Collard, formerly of Hedgesville, West Virginia passed from this life at home in Sykesville, MD on August 27, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born on June 30, 1933, in Denmark, Wisconsin to Donald Collard and Bernadine (Krumdick) Collard. He was the loving husband of Carolyn Elizabeth Collard for 67 years and the father of their four children. Ken worked at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn Md as a programmer until his retirement. He was in the service for over 20 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He and Carolyn attended St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Hedgesville, West Virginia and were members of the garden club.
Ken and Carolyn built a life around their family with gatherings and tradition that spanned 7 decades. Ken's greatest joys were his family, his West Virginia home and the Green Bay packers. He had a zest for life and enjoyed planning trips and traveling across the country.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, brothers Mike and Don (Butch) Collard, and his daughter Julie. He is survived by his sister Suzanne Nelson, his children Terry (Mary) Collard of Sykesville, Tim Collard and his wife Marguerite of Gardnerville, NV, Joseph Collard and his wife Julie of New Market, MD, grandchildren Nick Chapman, Becky Chapman, Abby (Chapman) Ickes, Elisabeth (Reddinger) Baumwald, Melissa Reddinger, Jennifer Reddinger, Mark Reddinger, Greg Collard, Ashley (Collard) Hansen, Zachary Collard and 11 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 2 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School), a gathering of friends and family from 1 until the time of the service at 2 PM.
