Leslie Charles Pahl, Sr., 89, of Pikesville, MD died Monday, May 28, 2018 at his home at Augsburg Village in Gwynn Oak, MD. Leslie Pahl was the husband of the late Mary Jane Pahl, for 67 years. He was born on October 11th, 1928 in Pikesville, MD, son of the late Clarence Harmon Pahl and Lillie Gompf. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Jane Pahl, his son Leslie C. Pahl, Jr, his brothers Walter Pahl, Sr, George Pahl and his sister Mabel Pahl Jolly Stevenson.
Leslie is survived by his daughter-in-law Pamela Boyle Pahl of Granite, MD and four grandchildren. Granddaughters Jennifer Lynn Pahl-Early and her husband Wayne Early of Granite, MD, and Donna Marie Pahl and her fiancé Philip Clements of Riverside, CA. Grandsons Gregory Bruce Pahl of Granite, MD and Daniel Charles Pahl and his wife Leslie Malick Pahl of Owings Mills, MD.
Leslie, born in the family’s farmhouse in Pikesville, grew and sold produce at Lexington Market with his parents. Leslie and Mary Jane married in 1950, the same year they opened the Pahl’s Farm produce stand opposite Sudbrook School. Leslie and the family grew and retailed produce at the stand and Baltimore-area farmer’s markets. In 1975, Leslie, Sr., Mary Jane, and Leslie, Jr. expanded the farm by purchasing 134 acres in Granite, MD. Leslie passed his passion for farming to his late son Les, Jr. and his grandchildren, and they follow in his footsteps by carrying on the farming tradition.
Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, PA., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 on Wednesday May 30th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A viewing will also be held on Thursday May 31st from 1:30pm to 2:30 pm followed by a funeral service at 2:30pm at the funeral home. Interment Lake View Memorial Park.
