Madeline Strader

Mrs. Madeline Franklin Strader, age 91, died on Monday 11th December 2017 at Fairhaven Retirement Community in Sykesville, MD, her home since 2006. She was born in Woodbine, MD on October 13, 1926, the daughter of the late Herman McKinley Franklin and Elzie Iris Ripley Franklin. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Warren V. Strader in 2007. She is survived by loving family; her children, Patricia Strader Reed and Donald Warren Strader, beloved grandchildren, Jacqueline Michelle Reed, Cristina Menchu Strader and Victoria Maite Strader and son-in-law, Randall R. Reed and daughter-in-law, Arantza A. Strader.

Mrs. Strader, a Lisbon High School valedictorian, graduated from Western Maryland (McDaniel) College in 1948. She was a caring social worker who positively impacted many children’s lives during her career as a Supervisor of Foster Care for the Baltimore City Department of Social Services. Madeline Strader, a long-time Howard County resident, grew up on her parent’s farm in Woodbine, Maryland. After her marriage, she lived in Catonsville before returning to a residence on the family farm nearly 40 years ago.

The Family will receive friends on Thursday December 14th from 3 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd, Winfield, MD 21784. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, December 15th at 11am, at the BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME. Interment will immediately follow at Morgan Chapel U.M.
