Mae (Millie) Heller passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 92 after a tragic automobile accident in Mount Airy, MD. Mae resided in Winter Springs, Florida and was on an extended stay in Mount Airy, MD.

Mae was born on June 13, 1931, in New York City, New York, and raised in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx for the next 20 years. Afterward, Mae spent nearly 20 years living in Deer Park, NY. Mae entered the workforce after her husband Louis Nathan Heller predeceased her at an early age. Mae went back to college to earn a bachelor’s degree enabling her to work as a public-school teacher in Deer Park, opening the minds of elementary, junior high and high school students to the possibilities the world presents. Afterwards she relocated to the Winter Park, Florida area where she once again picked up the mantle of teaching young minds for the next 20 years. This time she joined a select group of teachers in Orange County, Florida teaching special needs children. Mae retired at age 70 to be a true “Bubbe” to her grandchildren.
Mae was the youngest of two children born to the late Isidore and Mary Lifshitz. Her sister Annise (Shankman) Lifshitz predeceased Mae.

Mae raised two children, playing the role of mother and father two both. She always provided a compassionate and loving home to her son, David, and daughter, Cheryl. As time progressed, she also helped raise three grandchildren (daughters to Chery), Jori, Samantha, and Danielle. Whether children or grandchildren, she was always available to them when called upon no matter the time of day. With the arrival of grandchildren, she transitioned into the wonderful world of being a “Bubbe.” Her love and admiration for her children and grandchildren had no limits. She gave unconditional love, comfort, and guidance to them whenever they needed it. She brought equal amounts of love, wisdom, and nurturing to their lives and the lives of everyone she met.

Her family grieves her loss, but they take comfort knowing that Mae and Louis are together again. They are survived by their son David Heller, his wife Lois Heller, daughter Cheryl Heller-Allen, her husband Paul Allen, their three children Jori Allen, Samantha Allen, and Danielle Allen. There are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services are at 10AM, Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Winfield, Maryland, 21784. Burial Services will be Thursday, October 5, 2023, in the family plot in Paramus, NJ.
